Compared with the e-commerce between China and America

With China becoming a global force in e-commerce, let’s have a look at the differences between Chinese online shoppers and their American counterparts.

Average age of buyers
The average age of Chinese online buyers use computers for shopping is 32 years old, Us is 44 years old. The average age of Chinese online buyers use mobiles for shopping is 30 years old, Us is 39 years old. That means Chinese online buyers whether using computer or mobile terminals are younger than their American peers.

Sex ratio
The sex ratio of Chinese males use computers for shopping is 57%, female is 43%; compared with US, their males use computers for shopping ratio is 49% and female is 51%. The sex ratio of Chinese males and females use mobile for shopping is 53% and 47% respectively; US’s males and females use mobile for shopping ratio are both 50%. Therefore, more Chinese online shoppers are male.

Mobile preferred
There are 67% people using mobiles for online shopping in China, but in US, only 34% people online shopping by mobiles. That means more Chinese buyers have used mobile terminals in online shopping in the past 12 months.

More generous
On average, Chinese e-shoppers spend 8 times more than their American peers in the same revenue group.

More frequent
The number of Chinese consumers who buy stuff online at least one time each week is 42% more than their American peers.

Online – offline
There are 93% Chinese will compare the price when they having online shopping, 71% American also do the same thing. However, more Chinese buyers compare the prices of online products with that of brick-and-mortar shops while shopping offline.

Top concerns of online shoppers
Chinese shoppers are more concern about the security and the process of online shopping.  However, American shoppers are more concern about whether can talk with the salesperson and see real products.

Product price

Chinese e-commerce product price is cheaper than American’s, especially Amanbo e-commerce platform, which products are directly supply from Chinese factories, the price is cheaper than other e-commerce platforms.

How the internet is changing our everyday lives

In the past, we want to have meals, we must cook by ourselves or go to a restaurant, but now, we can order the food online and the delivery service will bring the meals to our doorstep.

In the past, we want to rent a house, we need to see the street advertising, but now, we can search the house information online, hundreds of potential homes are online. 

In the past, the entertainment only watch shows or movies as scheduled on TV, but now, smart TVs offer movies on demand, shows, music, games, social networking and more.

In the past, we need a taxi, we should hail a taxi on the street, but now, use online ride-hailing services to book the closest driver.

In the past, we want to buy foreign goods, we need to travel overseas to shop abroad, but now, browse and order online our favorite brands from anywhere in the world.

In the past, we want shopping, we need to go to a shopping mall, but now, virtual reality shopping experience brings the shops to you.

In the past, we only can pay cash or bankcard, but now, our mobile phone doubles as a wallet.

In the past, we only can talk on the phone, email from computer, but now, share thoughts, photos, vides on social media and use instant messaging apps for one-on-one or group chats.

In the past, we want reading, only can sit down with a printed book, but now, store hundreds of e-books on one device.

In the past, we want ride a bike, we should buy a real bike, but now, access a bike whenever we want through online bike-sharing services.

In the past, we want to take photos, we only can use cameras, but now, smart phones and photo editing and sharing apps make it easy.     


In the past, we want to do cross-border businesses, we should take the goods to the foreign countries, but now, the suppliers can publish their goods on the cross border e-business platforms and the foreign buyers can buy the goods at home in their countries, such as Amanbo, an Africa-China cross-border e-business platform, a good platform for Africa-China business.
